A major event is about to take place in the last 10 nights of the blessed month of Ramadan: the arrival of Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power, Destiny or Decree). It is called this because of the power of this night and the fact that our destiny is decreed in this night. Allah Almighty informed us about this night in Chapter 97 of the Quran Laylat Al Qadr is considered the holiest night of the year for Muslims, and is traditionally celebrated on the 27th day of Ramadan. It is known as the "Night of Power," and commemorates the night that the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, beginning with the exhortation, "Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)," in Surat Al-Alaq (Muhsin Khan translation). Belief in al-Qadar includes four things: 1 - The belief that Allaah knows all things, in general and in detail, from eternity to eternity, whether that has to do with His actions or the actions of His slaves. 2 - The belief that Allaah has written that in al-Lawh al-Mahfooz (the Book of Decrees). Laylat-al-Qadr calls for much reflection and prayer. Whilst fulfilling good deeds and asking for forgiveness, Allah (SWT) is thought to see and answer your prayers during this night. Ramadan influences us to reflect, and it is this night where the significance is increased. Why are the 10 acts important? Crucial in guiding the practices of shi'a Muslims Ways of showing commitment to Allah Enables shi'a Muslims to connect with Allah, purify their hearts, ease suffering and promote a better society A means for shi'a Muslims to be blessed with a good afterlife.
